Stopwatch
Measure elapsed time with a clean online stopwatch. Start and pause timing, reset when you need a fresh run, and record lap and split times for workouts, practice drills, or study intervals. Timing stays in this browser—nothing to install.
Timing is saved locally in this browser.
About this online stopwatch
A focused lap timer in your browser
This stopwatch is for measuring forward time, not counting down to zero. Use it when you care about how long a set, lap, or deep-work block actually took. Lap presses store the segment length; splits show cumulative time from the original start so you can compare pacing across a session.
Unlike phone widgets buried in notification trays, the page keeps controls and the lap list visible together, which is useful when you are coaching, timing lab steps, or logging intervals next to notes.
How to use the stopwatch
Start timing
Open the stopwatch page and press Start. Elapsed time updates continuously while the run is active. You can leave the tab visible on a second monitor while you work.
Pause or continue
Press Pause to freeze the clock during interruptions. Press Start again to resume from the same elapsed time instead of losing the run.
Record laps and splits
Press Lap while timing to store the current segment. Review lap duration and split (cumulative) columns to see pacing. Empty state text explains when no laps exist yet.
Reset when finished
Reset clears the clock and lap list for a new attempt. Local browser storage may remember recent timing state on this device so an accidental refresh is less disruptive.
When a browser stopwatch helps
Workouts and interval training
Time circuits, rest periods, and repeat sets. Lap each round so you can compare whether later intervals slowed down.
Study and deep work
Track uninterrupted focus length. Pair with Study With Me if you want a companion video while the stopwatch measures real seat time.
Coaching, labs, and rehearsals
Capture segment times for speeches, science steps, or stage cues without installing a sports timer app on a shared computer.
Cooking and hands-on tasks
When you need elapsed time rather than a countdown alarm—proofing dough, steeping, or noting how long a process actually ran—use the stopwatch.
Privacy notes
Local timing only
Start, pause, lap, and reset all happen in your browser. Lap history is not uploaded to DK-JS as part of the stopwatch workflow. If the UI saves state, it uses local browser storage on your device.
Clearing site data removes saved timing. We do not provide cloud sync of laps across phones and laptops.
Limitations to know
Not a certified race clock
Millisecond display depends on your device and browser timers. Do not use this page as the sole official timer for sanctioned competitions that require certified hardware.
Background tab throttling
Browsers may throttle inactive tabs to save battery. For critical timing, keep the tab audible/visible or expect small drift if the OS aggressively suspends background pages.
Device-bound history
Laps saved locally will not appear on another browser profile or device. Export results manually (screenshot or notes) if you need a permanent record.
Stopwatch FAQ
It is a free browser stopwatch on DK-JS for measuring elapsed time with start, pause, reset, and lap/split recording. It is meant for workouts, study blocks, rehearsals, and other everyday timing—not certified race timing.
Yes. You can use the full stopwatch controls without creating an account or paying a subscription.
Lap time is the duration of each segment between Lap presses. Split time is the cumulative elapsed time from the original start to that lap. Together they show both segment pace and overall progress.
It uses the browser's high-resolution timing where available and typically shows milliseconds. Real-world accuracy still depends on your hardware and whether the tab stays active.
Use this stopwatch to measure how long something already took. Use the Timer tool when you need to count down to zero with an alert (Pomodoro, oven time, meeting wrap-up).
Any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, or Android. No installation is required.
Yes for the stopwatch workflow: timing and laps stay in the browser. Nothing in this tool requires uploading a workout log to DK-JS servers.
